‘Loughborough University Football Club’ – 1 x Volunteer ‘Match Day Manager’ & 4 x ‘Co-ordinators’
Interested in football and in Loughborough from August 2010-May 2011? Do you want to gain some invaluable sports work experience, contribute to the success of Loughborough Sport, and have a lot of fun whilst doing so? One Volunteer ‘Match Day Manager’ and up to four Volunteer ‘Match Day Coordinators’ are needed to run match day support and team administration, working closely with the Head Coach, providing a professional service to the visiting team, match officials, players and spectators, as well as gaining experience of working with young people from the local area, supporting them during their volunteering placements at the football club. The deadline for applications is Friday 18th June 2010. Interviews will be held on Thursday 1st & Friday 2nd July 2010 and the role starts on 1st August 2010.

Volunteers to assist with the ‘Muck in 4 Life’ conservation work (as part of ‘Change 4 Life’), involved in activities such as dry stone walling, boardwalk making and fencing. No specific skills, but enthusiasm, reliability, ability to follow instructions, ability to take part in conservation activities, etc.
Where – Either The Outwoods, Stonebow Washlands and Beacon Hill, Charnwood.

We are looking for young gardeners and enthusiastic novices, in fact anyone who can pick up a spade and wants to help, particularly young people who are willing to work closely with experienced volunteer gardeners who want to help the elderly and disabled people who can't maintain their own garden, by mowing the lawn, planting, and other general maintenance of their garden, joining a team of gardeners who are all volunteers and be very much valued and be part of the team.

‘Volunteer Befrienders’ (Syston and Districts) – Part-time or potential Full-time Opportunities.
Volunteers (aged 18/21+) with ability to talk with, listen and relate to elderly people, some hard-of-hearing are needed to befriend elderly people in South Charnwood area who are lonely and socially isolated, generally because of their age, illness or disability. Volunteers visit the clients in their own home or some volunteers take their client out on occasions. Volunteers are carefully matched with people. The Befrienders’ will support a range of support groups run by the Volunteer Centre if they prefer as there are a range of options available.
Access to your own transport is useful but not essential. Volunteers are expected to attend a briefing session and are offered support as required. The Full-time volunteering opportunity role is to support the Chairman in co–ordinating the befriending for the Volunteer Centre. Where – Syston and Districts, Leicestershire.

‘Volunteer Website Editors’ (Syston and Districts) – Part-time or potential Full-time Opportunities.
Do you have IT skills that you would like to put into use by helping Syston & District Volunteer Centre set up a brand new website? Would you be able to help the Charity put all its services on this exciting new website? Help plan and implement the new web content and design; Maintain the content on the website; Work with the Chairman to develop and maintain information on the Web; Design and implement the website ensuring ease of navigation for visitors; Ensure that the website is designed and deployed in a manner that is as accessible and user-friendly as possible.
The part time role will help to draft content for the website whilst the full-time opportunity is to set up the website and co-ordinate the whole project.

Volunteers are needed to support the Training/Customer Service Administrators for SOFA who recycle furniture for families/individuals in need, assisting in the main office; produce letters; take telephone calls; booking furniture donations for collection; greeting customers in a friendly and non– judgmental way and assisting them in choosing furniture items; selling and arranging deliveries; general administration duties; filing; databases; photocopying, etc.
The project offers a supportive environment, particularly for younger volunteers, and is designed to give useful experience which will help enhance a CV and help with possible education or work experience.

Crime Prevention – Support Volunteer (Charnwood)
An opportunity for volunteers (18+) to be part of a team, getting a aste of providing a Police service and building positive communities, by assisting with crime prevention initiatives, including talking to general public, handing out leaflets, supporting employees of the Leicestershire Constabulary, etc. Good communication, interpersonal and literacy skills, smart appearance, etc, would be necessary.

A full-time volunteering opportunity for a Volunteer (18+) to be involved in a variety of administrative tasks to support the Volunteer Centre, including welcoming visitors; receiving telephone calls; message taking; photocopying and dealing with enquires; as well as support being required for the wheelchair scheme; social car scheme; assisting with maintaining data records; assisting mailings; etc. Reliability, and good communication, literacy and numeracy skills would be beneficial, as well as some administration experience would be desirable although support will be given.

An exciting opportunity for volunteers (16+) with an interest in gardening to gain practical experience, working closely in a team with experienced volunteer gardeners, and be able to make a difference to a local community by helping older and/or disabled people who can’t maintain their own garden, assisting with mowing the lawn, planting and other general maintenance of a garden. Interest in gardening and ability to carry out basic gardening this can be an exciting opportunity for young people to gain particle experience in gardening, the role is varied from digging, bedding seasonal plants and general maintenance of the gardens.

Charnwood Mentoring Project – Volunteer Mentors:Volunteer Mentors to support and help young people (10-17 year olds) in Charnwood district ‘at risk’ of offending to become more positive citizens within the community. The scheme pairs young people with appropriate mentors in a ‘professional friendship’, involving around 1-2 hours a week at flexible times for hopefully a minimum of one year, with the mentor engaging and encouraging them to consider more positive decisions and actions, aim to develop essential social skills and grow in confidence. Love4Life Project – Volunteers: A project that works with vulnerable young girls in Leicestershire during weekday daytimes, through one-to-one sessions, group activities and mentoring in order to offer support, values-based education, self esteem building, sex and relationships guidance, and decision making skills. E2E: Entry to Employment – Volunteers: E2E is about entry to employment, provided during weekday daytimes. Young people aged 16-18 arrive with various issues that have prevented them completing school or GCSE's. E2E have a 22 week programme to facilitate young people to achieve numeracy & literacy and to get them ready for college or the work environment.
Charnwood 20:20 Projects – Volunteers to support young people in Charnwood
Volunteers (18+) are needed for the following 20:20 projects to support and help young people (10-18 year olds) in Charnwood who need assistance with numeracy, literacy, social, behavioural and life skills; with some being ‘at risk’ of offending; to become more confidence and positive citizens within the community. All roles require effort, reliability and firm commitment and volunteers need to be enthusiastic, trustworthy and ready for an adventure, including good communication/listening skills; ability to assist a young person to reflect on their behaviour, actions, etc; and have a non-judgmental attitude. Depending on the project you could be helping in a class room environment, playing basketball, completing work on the PC, or providing longer-term mentoring. 4th Shepshed Beavers, Cubs & Scouts Group Volunteer Assistant.
Volunteers are desperately needed to provide valuable support and assistance to young group members in Beavers (aged 6-8); Cubs (aged 8-10) and Scouts (aged 10-14) to undertake personal and group activities and working with them to gain badges, develop confidence, and to have fun, with the opportunity for volunteers to also develop further by undertaking formal leader training to achieve a full Leader’s warrant.
Although Volunteers do not need to have previous involvement in the Scout/Guide Movement, relevant skills would be valuable (such as camping and outdoor skills, previous volunteer or professional experience of working with young people etc).
