Young Volunteers (13-25 years of age, although some older Volunteers could be considered as ‘mentors’) to take part in a new and exciting environmental project based at The Grange Nature Reserve at Snibston Discovery Museum Park, being supported to learn how to preserve and maintain a Country Park, learning about wildlife and gaining practical skills such as wood carving and shelter building, taking part in the practical maintenance of the Country Park and local nature reserves, and having the opportunity to keep fit, stay healthy, meet new people, and be part of a lively team.

North-West Leicestershire – Conservation/Environment: Volunteer Rangers Want to get involved in your local environment and be part of a new North West Leicestershire volunteer team? 4th Shepshed Beavers, Cubs & Scouts Group Volunteer Assistant.
Volunteers are desperately needed to provide valuable support and assistance to young group members in Beavers (aged 6-8); Cubs (aged 8-10) and Scouts (aged 10-14) to undertake personal and group activities and working with them to gain badges, develop confidence, and to have fun, with the opportunity for volunteers to also develop further by undertaking formal leader training to achieve a full Leader’s warrant.
Although Volunteers do not need to have previous involvement in the Scout/Guide Movement, relevant skills would be valuable (such as camping and outdoor skills, previous volunteer or professional experience of working with young people etc).

‘Ibstock Does Climate Change’, an independent and non-party political association offering support for residents and local businesses in or around the Village of Ibstock to consider, debate, act and adapt to the effects, positive or negative of climate change, global warming and decreased availability of fossil fuels, require a volunteer to liaise with the community to raise the profile of the work of the group and the press to promote the activities of the group; develop ways to recruit new members; design promotional materials; and support the group during events.
Where – The volunteer would need to have access to their own computer equipment.
When – The role is very flexible and times/commitment can be discussed. ‘Community Education & Enterprises Project’ (CEEP)
Learner Support/Mentoring Volunteers: Volunteers (18+) wanted to be involved as part of a small team (probably 2 volunteers; or 1 volunteer and one worker to 3 learners who are aged 14-16ish) to act as ‘learning mentors’ for 14-16 year olds and join in various activities hosted at various community centres around Coalville, Ashby and the surrounding villages. The Learners on the scheme will be attending because they are not "fitting into the mainstream school system" which may mean some emotional or behavioural issues or have more difficulty learning in a large group by traditional teaching methods.
Although they are not looking for ‘experts’ (but will happily utilise any skills volunteers may have), the wish to engage and mentor young Learners; have empathy with them and enable them to have a degree ‘freedom’ within set rules; be able to work as a team to ensure the learners experience is as positive and enjoyable as possible; be able to recognise and (in a very informal way) record the learning process; and be confident and have a "role your sleeves up and have a go attitude" would be important.

‘Connexions’ Internet Cafe – Potential Full-time Volunteering Opportunity
A potential full-time volunteering opportunity to help develop the Connexions Internet Café by supporting paid staff in empowering young people. There are three groups that a person can volunteer with: a Friday group, a Wednesday Job Club and the Tuesday café night, alongside paid staff, supporting young people to socialise, develop skills, and helping them to get into training or employment. There will be opportunities to assist young people in accessing information on the internet, organise games (Xbox, etc), and help them to identify suitable learning opportunities.

This is an exciting full-time volunteering opportunity for a Volunteer (18+) to help liaise with the agencies in the ‘One Stop Shop’ to co-ordinate and support the range of services offered at the ‘One Stop Shop’; provide administrative and reception support; support other reception volunteers, etc, to help ensure a smooth running, efficient and friendly reception service. Youth Action Team (YAT) - 16-25 year olds from Hinckley & Bosworth and North West Leicestershire areas Our ‘Youth Action Teams’ are young people between 16-25 years of age from all walks of life who champion volunteering locally. These ambassadors encourage their peers to volunteer; help develop youth-led community action; work alongside the vinvolved team and communities to help change the perception of youth volunteering and to provide accessible, diverse and empowering opportunities for all young people aged 16-25.
