‘Stand Against Poverty’ (Leicester Interfaith Youth Hub) Event (Saturday 18th September 2010) – Volunteer Supporters
The ‘Leicester Interfaith Youth HUB’ moto is 'think global... act local', so at the same time as fighting global poverty and diseases, such as Malaria, we take local action in our communities by volunteering. We are looking for young people aged 16-26 of different faith traditions to come together and be part of the Stand Against Poverty campaign; especially at an event in Leicester City Centre where there will be a Mexican wave on the hour, every hour to show that the various faith traditions can stand up and shout together in support of the campaign to reduce global poverty. On the day, there will be a conga line, Mexican wave, face painting, lots of fun and games and selling t-shirts, wristbands, and giving away freebies to help raise awareness of the fight against poverty.

If interested in volunteering at this event it is necessary to come to a preparation workshop at the monthly HUB meeting (Tues 7th September) which will include workshops from the Global poverty project, The TBF foundation, and finishing off with an Interfaith Iftari (Breaking Fast) meal.
